POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on locomotives, including fueling, cleaning, and inspecting equipment.
  • Test and recharge locomotive toilets and toilet rooms, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for crew members.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of locomotive trucks, fuel tanks, brake systems, and other critical components to identify and address potential issues.
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments to locomotive components, including brakes, hoses, and safety equipment.
  • Adjust and replace safety components, brakes, and other critical systems to ensure safe operation of locomotives.
  • Inspect and top-up fluid levels, including oil, water, and governor oil, and take oil samples as required.
  • Test and set up cab electrical devices, including brakes and safety systems, to ensure proper function.
  • Test brakes and loading, including Locator qualification, to ensure safe operation of locomotives.
  • Perform pre-departure safety inspections and run-throughs within terminals, and make minor repairs as required.
  • Perform low-voltage electrical work and other tasks as required.
  • Obtain and maintain Shop Track Operations Curriculum (STOC) and Locomotive Safety Inspection (LSI) certification.
  • Perform other duties as required by the collective agreement.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Previous mechanical experience and/or knowledge of rolling equipment is preferred.
    • A high school diploma or GED is required.
    • A commercial driver's license (Class 1A, 3A) is preferred.
    • The ability to work any of three shifts, including weekends and holidays, is required.
    • The ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions is required.
    • The ability to wear safety equipment and work in an environment with grease, oil, and cleaning agents is required.
