About the Role
The Maintenance Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our communities. As a member of our team, you will provide preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and timely responses to routine maintenance and repair requests for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing routine maintenance tasks, including repairs and replacements of plumbing fixtures, electrical and mechanical repairs on various equipment and appliances, and applying paint and other finishes.
- Maintaining current knowledge of applicable codes and regulations and providing 24-hour maintenance support, attending to building emergencies after business hours.
- Ensuring maintenance work and storage areas are clean and organized, and continually seeking innovative ways to improve service while maintaining high standards.
- Repairing and constructing furniture, performing maintenance on heavy-duty equipment, assigning tasks to designated team members, and providing training and orientation.
- Establishing and monitoring preventative maintenance procedures, recommending repairs and purchases, participating in safety committee activities, and ensuring workplace safety discussions are a regular part of team meetings.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experienced driver with a minimum of Class 5 license and a clear driving record.
- Physically able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is $27.10/hour as per HEU Grid 16, comprehensive benefits package, four weeks vacation, and enrollment with the MPP.
