Job Summary:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods across the country, navigating through various terrain and weather conditions.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent navigation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • This role requires the individual to maintain accurate records of their journey, including fuel consumption, distance traveled, and cargo information.
  • The driver will also be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of their cargo, adhering to all regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods

Requirements:

  • Air Brakes Endorsement
  • Bear awareness Certification
  • Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks and other 2-axle vehicles)
  • Commercial Driver Registration Program (CDRP) Card
  • Defensive Driving Course
  • Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
  • Extended Trailer Combination Permit or Endorsement
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate
  • Pro-Trucker/Smart Driver (fuel efficiency) Training
  • Professional Driver Improvement Certificate
  • Skid Control Training
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate

Salary:

$60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
