Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at the Women Shelter. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and portioning food while ensuring the optimum use of perishable goods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage food inventory and develop menus in collaboration with resource persons.
  • Source and purchase food supplies while controlling costs and minimizing waste.
  • Prepare and cook meals according to recipes and cooking techniques, ensuring quality and hygiene standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service to users and staff, fostering a positive and respectful work environment.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or DEP in Cooking.
  • One year of relevant experience in food preparation and kitchen management.
  • Fluency in Cree and English; fluency in French is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and adhere to confidentiality and ethics standards.

Working Conditions:

  • 9h00 to 16h45 shift, including lunch break.
  • Only female applicants will be considered for this position due to the shelter's specific mandate.
