About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Landscape Construction Manager to join our team at Clintar Winnipeg. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing all field operations in a geographical location, ensuring that our projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and schedule labor, equipment, and materials to accomplish production schedules within established budgets.
  • Understand contract specifications and ensure they are met, maintaining customers' complete satisfaction.
  • Provide the most recent plans and/or documents to field staff and provide instruction to ensure the foreman and crew are prepared to complete the job.
  • Ensure all work is completed following safety policies and guidelines, conducting weekly safety training and inspections on job sites.
  • Investigate any accident or safety violation, prepare appropriate reports, and take action steps to correct and prevent future occurrences.
  • Work with the supply manager to ensure proper inventory of materials, equipment, and other supplies are on hand to complete production activities.
  • Supervise employees, keeping attendance records, enforcing proper uniform and safety equipment use, and approving timecards.
  • Maintain sufficient staff to accomplish production schedules and analyze future needs, forecasting staff and material needs to complete future jobs.
  • Conduct timely performance reviews of direct reports and take corrective actions when appropriate.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and other resources as needed to meet job schedules.
  • Obtain utility locates on needed properties 48 hours before beginning a work, updating as needed.
  • Visit job sites regularly, observe work organization, identify and resolve training issues, and take necessary actions to ensure quality.
  • Respond to customer complaints, ensuring proper handling to achieve excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain daily working knowledge of all contracts in progress, including field completion status, billings to date, and progress payments.
  • Maintain costs within all assigned budgets.
  • Monitor job costs weekly and immediately report to the Director of Operations or CEO any jobs deviating from budgets of time, schedule, cost, or any other factor so appropriate adjustments can be made to maximize the result.
  • Make recommendations regarding qualifying or disqualifying warranty work, coordinate the completion of warranty work per contract and/or instructions from the Project Manager and/or CEO.
  • Maintain a high level of good housekeeping and care for company assets in the field, including vehicles, shops, field offices, and customer worksites.
  • Stay aware of Best Practices, develop and make recommendations for improved work methods and standards.
  • Look for opportunities to expand the service and sales offerings by adding additional crews that specialize in particular fields, etc.
  • Communicate with customers on the progress of the project, keep them informed of challenges, successes, and any other topic relevant to their total satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications & Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Landscaping or Construction Management and/or 5-10 years directly relevant experience.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in business management, including basic accounting skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Current driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance at a level acceptable to the company.
