We are seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Children First: Community Child Care Network Society. As a key member of our childcare staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for young children.

About the Role

This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will have a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years and 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in early childhood education. You will be working in a child care centre, before and after school programs, and may also work in day care centres or nursery schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers with care and compassion
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children through engaging activities, storytelling, and educational games
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest, fostering their curiosity and love for learning
  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records of children's progress and well-being
  • Encourage children to express their creativity through various art forms, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  • Engage children in activities that promote socialization, teamwork, and good communication skills
  • Guide and assist children in developing healthy habits such as eating, dressing, and toilet training
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, ensuring a clean and safe environment
  • Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors, contributing to informed decision-making
  • Maintain knowledge of licensing regulations and establish guidelines for behaviour that promote respect and empathy among children
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, community service providers, and parents, working together to provide high-quality childcare services
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, adhering to safety protocols and procedures
  • Organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours, catering to their unique needs and interests
