About the Role

GAT Airline Ground Support is seeking a skilled Aircraft Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our ground service equipment maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet of vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on ground service equipment, including vehicles, tugs, and other specialized equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including inspections, repairs, and replacements of parts and equipment.
  • Monitor parts usage and report on any materials issues, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Assist in ordering replacement equipment, parts, and supplies, ensuring timely delivery and availability.
  • Accurately complete work orders and time cards, maintaining detailed and accurate records.
  • Participate in training to comprehend, implement, and maintain all quality objectives, ensuring delivery of desired levels of operational safety and security.
Requirements
  • Completion of college/vocational or technical training in a related field.
  • Red Seal Certification (3IOS or 3IOT) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in the trade, with a strong background in mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and ability to work on a permanent basis in Canada.
  • Ability to obtain necessary airport and/or Transport Canada security clearances.
  • Must be capable of lifting/pushing/pulling up to 23 kgs/50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in stressful situations and tight time constraints.
Assets
  • Advanced Fuel Injection & Diesel Engine Tune-Up certificates/licenses.
  • Knowledge or experience with furnaces/pumps/hydraulics/electronics.
  • Air Conditioning and Refrigeration certificates/licenses.
  • Propane Fuel Systems certificates/licenses.
  • Automotive Inspection certificate/licenses.
  • Previous experience maintaining mobile ground power (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 ton), air start units (compressors up to 250 cfm), but will also consider experience in Farm or Heavy Industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of drive-trains, diesel and gasoline engines, propane fuel systems, complex electrical and hydraulic systems, and metal fabrication and welding.
