Job Summary

This role involves leading therapeutic activities, supporting students' daily life-skill routines, and facilitating group meetings & discussions. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, and positive role modeling skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support all daily life-skill routines (self-care, cleaning, laundry, etc.)
  2. Guiding and supporting students' engagement in daily programming schedule and campus expectations
  3. Facilitate/co-facilitate therapeutic groups/programming, group meetings & discussions
  4. Support family communications as necessary
  5. Provide classroom behaviour management and homework assistance during study hall evening programming.
  6. Support student organization and teamwork of scheduled chores
  7. Plan, organize and participate in holiday and community events, off-campus outings and team camp trips (may be overnight)
  8. Support the planning of transition & graduation ceremonies
  9. Development of student action plans
  10. Coordination of student recreational activities
  11. Contribute, as part of a multi-disciplinary therapeutic team to evaluate student progress and support individual plan modifications as required
  12. Help ensure the therapeutic goals of the program are fulfilled
  13. Ensure individual therapeutic plan for the students are realized
  14. Manage and de-escalate conflictual and/or crisis situations (ie: student disagreements, AWOLs, etc.)
  15. Provide written reports as required in a timely and comprehensive manner
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  1. Diploma or University degree in relevant area (eg. Child and Youth studies, Psychology, Social Work)
  2. Demonstrated sound judgement, integrity, patience, commitment and a sense of humour
  3. Some experience and training with at risk child and youth practices
  4. Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and professional
  5. Demonstrated commitment to personal growth and development
  6. Police Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check
  7. Valid Driver's License
