We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team at Trans-United Consultants Ltd. in Waterloo, ON.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems, products, and equipment to meet customer requirements. This includes creating 2D and 3D designs, solid modeling, and preparing bills of material (BOMs) and engineering change notices (ECNs).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical systems, products, and equipment to meet customer requirements
  • Meet with customers, sales, project managers, and other designers to understand project needs and requirements
  • Research and evaluate mechanical products, equipment, and systems to ensure they meet requirements and performance specifications
  • Specify system components and prepare BOMs and ECNs to ensure conformance to engineering design and performance specifications
  • Check completed layouts, drawings, and BOMs for accuracy, completeness, and conformity to standards and procedures
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering design in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of mechanical parts, strength of materials, and mechanical properties
  • Post-secondary education in mechanical design, mechatronics, or mechanical engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable 3D design platform(s)
  • Experience with PDM is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Preference given to candidates with Faro-Arm experience
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of work time, including international travel
