About Coast Mental Health

We are a leading mental health non-profit organization, dedicated to providing innovative housing and community-based rehabilitation services for individuals with mental illness in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. The LPN role at Coast Mental Health is a vital part of our multidisciplinary team, working under the direction of the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide a range of nursing functions and direct care, including psychiatric and physical assessments, crisis interventions, medication administration, group facilitation, and other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement trauma-informed care for clients with complex needs related to psychiatric disability, addiction, past trauma/victimization.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to share information about client progress, care planning, and interventions.
  • Provide support and guidance to clients with mental illness and addictions, promoting recovery-oriented techniques and psychosocial rehabilitation principles.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with clients, staff, and external partners.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses and ability to maintain full practicing license with the BCCNM.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License, First Aid Certificate, Criminal Records Clearance, Tuberculosis Clearance, Immunization Records, and WHMIS Certificate upon hire.
  • A good understanding of mental illness, addiction issues, psychotropic medications, and psychosocial rehabilitation principles/strengths-based model.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients, observe changes in clients, and work independently and in cooperation with others.
