Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing predictive and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting machinery problems, and performing repairs and rebuilds as instructed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial maintenance, preferably in a pulp and paper mill environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties in a professional manner, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Work independently to perform maintenance tasks, including predictive and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure equipment is in safe and efficient operational status at all times.
  • Provide training and guidance to co-workers as assigned.
  • Understand and follow safety protocols, including PPE requirements, safe electrical practices, and energy isolation procedures.

Requirements:

  • Provincial Certification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • 5-10 years' work experience in an industrial setting, preferably in a pulp and paper mill environment
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills needed for machine repairs and rebuilding
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety rules, manufacturer recommendations, OSHA regulations, and general work safety practices
  • Working knowledge of PLCs
  • Valid fork lift operator's license
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Licensed to work in Canada
  • Able to perform physical requirements of the job
  • Available to work 8 hours per day, with flexibility to work extended hours and participate in an on-call rotation
