Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Treatment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' mental health needs and develop individualized treatment plans to address their unique challenges.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and effective communication.
  • Education and Support: Provide education and support to clients and their families to promote mental health and well-being.
  • Community Outreach: Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and services to ensure clients receive comprehensive care.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress.
Requirements
  • Education and Training: Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant. Recognized post-basic education related to psychiatric nursing and/or mental illness.
  • Experience: Two (2) years recent related experience in mental health and/or substance use services. A significant understanding of mental health and/or alcohol and drug use issues.
  • Skills and Abilities: Apply nursing process as required and described in BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards of Nursing Practice. Demonstrate clinical competence congruent with the care and treatment of mental illness. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Deal with others effectively. Sound organizational, problem-solving, and teaching skills. Sound judgment, good observation, and client assessment skills, tact, and empathy.
