Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineering Specialist to join our team at Ontario Power Generation Inc. This role will provide technical oversight of static and rotating exciters in the OPG fleet of generators, including on-site support as required across Ontario.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience and knowledge of existing exciter technologies, models, and manufacturers. They will work with engineering teams around the province as a single point of contact and mentor for exciter technologies, protections and controls, and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities include providing technical expertise to ensure the safe and reliable operation of exciter systems, managing compliance activities and testing, and overseeing a team of engineers to manage and track exciter condition across the fleet.
A strong understanding of power converter knowledge, including ratings, limits, and control methodologies, is essential for this role. The ideal candidate will also have fluency in various exciter system software and hardware platforms.
In addition to their technical expertise, the successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with vendor experts and regulatory bodies as required.
