About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, Fund Taxation to join our Fund Tax Services department. The successful candidate will be responsible for tax compliance, monthly, quarterly, and annual fund distributions, and will be a key tax resource for all of Mackenzie's and Investor's Groups products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax research and domestic and foreign compliance, mutual fund, and sales tax
  • Ensuring the completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of the fund tax department deliverables
  • Acknowledging accurate and timely calculation and oversight of fund distributions and estimates
  • Acknowledging accurate and timely completion and oversight of tax filings including provincial sales tax, fund tax factors, and Canadian income tax returns
  • Analysis for product initiatives such as mergers, rebalancing, and various ad hoc requests
  • Liaising with various parties such as administrators, CRA, external auditors, tax advisors, investment managers, product managers, and internal departments within Mackenzie ETF, Mackenzie, and Investors Group
  • Focused on continuous development and process improvement

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate accounting, finance, or equivalent degree
  • Accounting designation (CPA) or in process
  • Minimum 3 years' fund taxation experience and financial services industry/mutual fund experience
  • Excellent team player
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent tax research, tax preparation, and analytic skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks and continuously prioritize work
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with departments across the organization
  • Desire to remain up to date with tax laws, regulations, and changes in the mutual fund industry
  • Willingsness to learn new reporting systems and seek advancements/improvements in existing processes

Educational Requirements:

An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or an equivalent field.

Experience:

At least 3 years of experience in fund taxation, preferably in the financial services industry or mutual fund experience.

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per year
