Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Risk Management Specialist to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing environmental risk, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, corporate policies, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the company in managing environmental risk through effective compliance and regulatory management
  • Oversee environmental consultants hired to manage environmental risk and engage with internal and external stakeholders and government agencies
  • Assist in reviewing proposals, cost estimates, scopes of work, and environmental investigation reports and provide recommendations to stakeholder groups
  • Bulk strong relationships with internal business units and external regulatory agencies

  • A competitive salary range of $87,100.00 - $119,900.00 per year
  • The opportunity to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs

Requirements:
  • A diploma or bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental or chemical engineering, environmental science, natural resource management, environmental planning, hydrogeology, or biology
  • Four to seven years of experience in managing environmental issues relating to waste management (hazardous and non-hazardous waste), dangerous goods, or contaminated sites or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferably in the context of the energy industry
  • Field experience with all aspects of the Hazardous Waste Regulation, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, and/or Contaminated Sites Regulation
