About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Ornamental Metal Fabricator to join our team at Summa Architectural & Structural Metal Inc. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for creating high-quality metal products and components for various industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Inspection and Quality Control: Check products for correct shapes, dimensions, and specifications to ensure they meet our high standards.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Operation: Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Metal Fabrication: Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld, or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Document work completed and maintain accurate records of production.
  • Machine Operation and Setup: Lay out, set up, and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines.
  • Assembly and Joinery: Operate machines or equipment that weld, solder, bolt, screw, or rivet metal parts together.
  • Material Handling and Transportation: Select and transport material to the work area manually or using a crane or hoist.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Possess an Other trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience in metal fabrication.
  • Equipment and Machinery Experience: Proficient in operating drills, lifting devices, overhead cranes, power presses, punch presses, saws, soldering or welding equipment, and hand tools.
  • Metal Forming and Shaping Operations Experience: Experienced in cutting machine operations, drawing, forming, piercing, punching, straightening, and upsetting.
  • Security and Safety: Able to pass a criminal record check and drug test.
  • Transportation and Travel: Public transportation is available.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Possess attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal Suitability: Organized, team player, and able to work independently.
  • Experience: 5 years or more of experience in metal fabrication.
