Job Title: Refrigeration Engineer

Laporte is a leading company in pharmaceutical, biotechnological, food, and industrial engineering, with a strong presence in Canada, the United States, and Europe. We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Engineer to join our team in Toronto.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Refrigeration Engineer to design and analyze refrigeration plants and systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with our integrated project team to develop innovative solutions for food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and biotech process systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and analyze refrigeration plants and systems
  • Perform CAD and drafting of refrigeration systems schematics and layouts in AutoCAD
  • Conduct safety and code compliance audits
  • Participate in the development of refrigeration-related SOPs, HAZOPS, and other safety analysis
  • Conduct site inspections of refrigeration systems
  • Write, format, and proof-read specifications, proposals, reports, templates, and other documents
  • Organize and maintain project records
  • Provide support and build relationships with new and existing clients
  • Collaborate with internal and external team members
Requirements:
  • 2-3+ years of experience in industrial refrigeration system design and analysis
  • Familiarity with ammonia and CO2 refrigeration systems
  • Knowledge of refrigeration and piping codes and standards
  • A degree or diploma in mechanical or chemical engineering or qualifications in a related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in communicating effectively using technology
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Energetic and motivated problem solver
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software packages, including Revit, Plant 3D, and P&ID, is considered an asset
