Job Summary:

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Technician to join our team in Fort St. John, BC. As a Heavy Duty Technician, you will be responsible for safely operating, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining company-owned heavy-duty diesel and alternative fuel trucks and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate and maintain heavy-duty diesel and alternative fuel trucks and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair operational difficulties, and complete administrative duties.
  • Plan and schedule repairs, review mechanical write-ups, and assist in coordinating repair schedules.
  • Respond to service calls and emergent situations in the field.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a diesel mechanic.
  • Computer literate, trainable on software systems, and willing to learn.
  • Meet safety-sensitive function criteria according to company standards.
  • Ability to use diagnostic software (a plus).
  • Follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records.
  • Operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job.
