The successful candidate will report to the Director, Engineering & Projects, Renewables, and will be responsible for supporting the development of project design and construction, as well as driving continuous improvement through collaboration with other departments and management.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our team and contribute to the growth and development of our renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Constructability, Operability, and Maintainability reviews to ensure smooth project lifecycle from concept through commissioning and handover to Operations.
  • Assist in identifying new opportunities and fatal flaws in projects, and propose mitigation strategies to overcome challenges in project development.
  • Complete reviews of designs, specifications, construction plans, and commissioning documentation.
  • Support project managers with technical tasks, scheduling reviews, consultant and contractor work reviews.
  • Assist in planning, estimating, and scheduling of related project deliverables as required.
  • Manage technical scope of work and complete scope using internal company resources and supervising external consultants.
  • Provide recommendations for equipment selection, new concepts, and techniques to improve performance, cost reductions, project design features, and compliance to changes in code or regulations.
  • Consult with internal teams and external parties, including engineering and construction consultants.
  • Coordinate with development and operations teams to ensure compliance obligations are met through all stages of the project.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering combined with project engineering and management experience.
  • Professional Engineer designation with APEGA or another engineering association that could be transferred to APEGA.
  • Experience in renewable projects (solar, wind and hydro) including design, planning, and construction.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with regulatory requirements for renewable project development.
  • Minimum years of experience working on renewable projects.
  • Project engineering and management experience preparing scopes of work, execution plans, cost estimates, schedules, and managing budgets.
  • Experience in renewable project development and approvals (planning, engagement, permitting, environment, historical resources, etc.).
  • Strong team player with proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with peers and leadership.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with ability to manage critical deadlines and conflicting priorities.
  • Knowledge assessing project constructability and constraints analysis.
