Senior Manager, Indirect Tax Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Manager to join our Indirect Tax team at BDO Canada LLP. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert Indirect Tax support to colleagues and clients, researching complex tax issues, and overseeing compliance for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Indirect Tax expertise to colleagues and clients, including support with Goods & Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax, provincial-level sales taxes, and other indirect tax matters
  • Research and prepare correspondence and client deliverables related to Indirect Tax issues
  • Oversee and review Indirect Tax compliance for clients, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations
  • Liaise with tax authorities on behalf of clients, resolving complex tax matters
  • Assist with tax authority examinations, audits, and voluntary disclosures related to Indirect Taxes
  • Manage practice matters, including billings, accounts receivable, and client onboarding procedures
  • Coach and develop junior team members, promoting knowledge sharing and growth
  • Identify opportunities to enhance client service and support, driving business growth
  • Stay up-to-date with all relevant Indirect Tax legislation and regulations

Requirements

  • A CPA/CMA/CGA designation is preferred but not required
  • Completion of the CPA GST/HST In-Depth Course is a must
  • A minimum of eight years' experience in indirect taxes is required
  • Strong teamwork, client service, and quality work skills are essential
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are necessary
