Nunavut Excavating is seeking a skilled Carpenter Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our construction crew, you will assist in various aspects of building and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Load and Transport Materials: Safely load, unload, and transport construction materials to and from job sites.
- Read Blueprints: Interpret blueprints and other technical documents to determine work requirements and ensure accurate execution.
- Erect and Dismantle Structures: Assist in setting up and taking down scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades as needed.
- Assist in Framing and Construction: Help in framing houses, erecting walls, and building roofs, ensuring timely completion of projects.
- Remove Debris: Safely remove rubble and other debris from construction sites, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Measure and Cut Materials: Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials as required.
- Build Foundations and Install Systems: Assist in building foundations, installing floor beams, laying subflooring, and erecting walls and roof systems.
- Criminal Record Check: Must undergo a criminal record check prior to employment.
- Work Environment: Work in a fast-paced environment with physically demanding tasks, handling heavy loads, and requiring attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
- Weight Handling: Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) as needed.
- Personal Suitability: Accurate, reliable, and a team player with a strong work ethic.
- Work Term: Permanent position.
- Work Language: English.
- Hours: 35 to 40 hours per week.
