About Us:
GCS is looking for a skilled Horizontal Directional Drilling Locator to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing directional drill shots for placing fibre conduit or other shallow utilities. Your duties will include reading and understanding drawings, constructing forms and rebar reinforcement as per project specifications, executing field projects according to instructions provided by the client, project manager, and the field supervisor. You will also use the locating device throughout the duration of the drill shot and verify that the drill head is passing through the center of the daylighted sight holes.

To be successful in this role, you will need 3+ years of HDD locating experience, knowledge of and experience working with underground utilities, ability to read and interpret plans, locates or diagrams, prior telecom, fibre, and hydro vac experience an asset. Additionally, you must be able to work in varied weather conditions, account for various soil conditions and inclines (topography) when drilling, think and react to changing conditions quickly, possess strong manual dexterity and hand eye coordination, safety conscious attitude, ability to perform preventative maintenance, good judgement and problem-solving capacity, physically fit and capable of lifting +50lbs, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks.
