What is the Opportunity?

The Royal Bank of Canada's IT Risk Controls Assurance team is focused on the effective identification, documentation, assessment, and continuous management of key IT controls. Enhancing our controls environment includes performing governance over our repository of key IT controls and executing on reporting to provide management visibility over the IT control environment. This program provides the ability to monitor compliance with Enterprise policies and standards, enabling proactive risk management.

What will you do?

Control Governance

  • Support the review of existing IT control documentation to ensure alignment with the Internal Controls Management Standard.
  • Support the review of IT controls being added and retired from the enterprise book of record.
  • Establish and maintain control management best practices across RBC's IT controls.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, advice, and recommendations to improve and streamline the IT control repository, including the identification and implementation of efficiencies in governance routines.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to provide guidance on how to best apply controls in IT processes and align to policies and standards.

Control Reporting

  • Support the delivery of controls testing results into wider Global IT Risk reporting, enabling the establishment of an end-to-end view of technology risk.
  • Provide reminders to key stakeholders for controls with annual control assessments coming due.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports on a regular basis, as well as create ad-hoc reports.
  • Establish strong governance over control testing result reporting.
  • Drive standardization, consistency, and transparency across all reporting initiatives.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • University graduate or equivalent.
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Experience with IT controls testing and/or IT audit, with a risk management foundation.
  • Ability to think analytically, navigate ambiguity, and recommend solid solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task and flexibility to adapt to priority changes.

Nice-to-have

  • Professional designations (e.g., CRISC, CISA, CISSP, PMP).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical (including qualitative analysis), research, and quantitative skills.
  • Knowledge of RBC policies and standards.
  • Experience using Archer, ERIC, and ORMS.
  • Ability to use a systemic approach to solving problems through attention to detail, analysis, and evaluation of alternative solutions.
