About the Opportunity

The University of Toronto is seeking an experienced professional to fill a key leadership role in our Accessibility Services department. As Assistant Director, Advising Services, you will play a critical part in ensuring that students with disabilities have access to the support they need to succeed.

Job Summary

">

This 24-month term position reports to the Director, Accessibility Services and is responsible for managing the daily operation, programming and advising staff in the department. Key responsibilities include:

  • ">
  • Managing human resources and labour relations, including dispute resolution and compliance with collective agreements;">
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of advising services and identifying opportunities for improvement;">
  • Developing and monitoring budgets for professional services used by the department;">
  • Serving as a point of contact for academic programs regarding questions specific to advising services;">

Requirements

">

To be successful in this role, you will require:

">
  • ">
  • A minimum of five years' administration and management experience related to the delivery of service to persons with disabilities;">
  • Extensive experience in case coordination and accommodation of people with disabilities with a range of disabilities, including mobility, sensory and mental health;">
  • Three years' experience supervising staff and following confidentiality guidelines;">
  • Strong understanding of the professional standards of a multi-disciplinary team, including Social Workers and Occupational Therapists;">
  • Experience working with people with varying disabilities in a community or institutional context with a solid and articulate understanding of disability issues;">
  • Clear understanding of human rights and human rights law, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), government administrative processes, equity and the role of advocacy;">
