Are you looking for a challenging role in animal breeding? HyLife, Canada's leading pork producer, is seeking a skilled Animal Breeder to join our team in Southern Manitoba.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing improved breeding practices for pigs
  • Conducting heat checks and selecting pigs for breeding
  • Crossbreeding pigs to achieve desirable characteristics
  • Performing artificial insemination and evaluating breeding schedules
  • Maintaining detailed records of pig growth and health
  • Providing treatment and care to animals during breeding and farrowing processes
  • Monitoring environmental conditions and identifying issues affecting sow and piglet health
  • Staying up-to-date with industry innovations and applying genetic and scientific knowledge to improve the breeding program

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A degree in Animal Science, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine, or related field
  • A self-motivated attitude and good work ethic
  • The ability to work well with others and communicate effectively
  • Availability to work rotating weekend shifts
