About this role:

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to join our Robotics Hardware Team at Ocado Logistics. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing advanced robotic systems for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electro-mechanical assemblies for complex robotic systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of controls subsystems
  • Develop and maintain detailed electrical schematics, layout drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Work closely with software teams to integrate and program industrial robot software packages and tools
  • Perform troubleshooting and eliminate control system issues
  • Design and develop PCB prototypes and production-ready designs
  • Create and document standard operating procedures and maintain accurate records

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in electrical controls engineering or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation hardware, power supplies, sensors, motors, and electromechanical components
  • Experience with RTOS and industrial protocols
  • Competency in creating wiring diagrams in AutoCAD, ePlan, or similar
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 10% of the time

Ideal Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical controls engineering or a related field
  • Pneumatic system experience and electrical harness creation experience for automotive or automation applications
  • Commissioning and system bring-up experience
  • Experience in robot programming and ROS
  • Automation controls system design experience
  • Experience at a machine builder or systems integrator
  • Demonstrated experience in robotics
  • Experience in Solidworks or Altium
