About the Faculty and Department

Data analysis is one of the fastest emerging professions in Canada. Our Master of Data Analytics (MDA) program aims to develop big data professionals who can grow in this high-demand career. The program focuses on developing core training in the Data Science Lifecycle – from Problem Framing and Hypothesis Formulation to Data Exploration, Warehousing, Analysis, and Visualization.

The MDA program invites applications for the position of sessional instructor for the course Prescriptive Analytics. This course builds on the knowledge gained in the Principal of Analytics course and explores statistical optimization methods and tools to build decision support and automation models.

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified individual to teach Prescriptive Analytics as a sessional instructor. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lectures and instructional content across multiple delivery modes (in-person, online, or hybrid) to create an inclusive, dynamic learning environment.

  • Lecturing & Teaching: Deliver engaging lectures and instructional content across multiple delivery modes.
  • Course Materials: Prepare, update, and maintain course materials, including assignments, quizzes, and exams.
  • Student Engagement: Offer regular office hours to meet with students, address inquiries, and provide academic support.
  • Assessment & Grading: Design and grade assignments, tests, and exams in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate on curriculum development to ensure course content is aligned with industry standards and trends.
Required Qualifications

A Doctorate/Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Economics, or a related field with a focus on predictive analytics or data analytics is required. Teaching experience in predictive analytics, regression modeling, data mining, machine learning, and operations research at the undergraduate or graduate level is also necessary.

  • Strong familiarity with software and programming languages used in prescriptive analytics, with demonstrated proficiency in Excel and Python.
  • Industry experience in the application of predictive analytics in domains such as healthcare, consumer behavior analysis, credit risk assessment, etc., is a significant asset.
Salary

The salary for this position is $7,200 per course, paid in installments.
