Job Summary

GreenFirst Forest Products is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Superintendent to lead our maintenance department in providing site and maintenance services in the most cost-effective manner to support production. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the maintenance department, including managing the upkeep of all manufacturing assets, managing maintenance budget and resources, and assisting in the design and installation of new systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team of maintenance supervisors and mechanics to ensure the effective planning, coordination, and delivery of maintenance services.
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to ensure maximum equipment efficiency and reliability.
  • Manage maintenance budgets and resources to ensure cost-effective maintenance services.
  • Assist in the design and installation of new systems to improve production efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance standards and procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and performance of mill equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, as well as applicable regulations and laws.
  • Develop and implement a cost reduction program to reduce maintenance costs.
  • Collaborate with other operating departments to determine the manning composition required for the site and the necessary training required to meet manning objectives.
  • Recommend changes and improvements to the maintenance management system and standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years working in fast-paced, multi-tasking industrial manufacturing environment with maintenance supervisory/management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of wood products manufacturing.
  • Journeyman level millwright or equivalent.
  • Knowledge in Maintenance Reliability, Predictive and Preventive Maintenance.
  • Experience utilizing Root Cause Analysis or other similar problem-solving tools.
  • PCMAC - MMP designation considered an asset.
