Autism Support Specialist Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Autism Support Specialist to join our team at ACT Learning Centre. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in supporting children with autism in our Entry to School Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized plans to support learners' social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other team members to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to support.
  • Provide direct support to learners in all daily activities, including self-care routines, transitions, and accessing learning opportunities.
  • Implement and modify curriculum as needed to meet the unique needs of each learner.
  • Engage and interact with learners at their developmental level, promoting social interaction, communication, and play.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year experience working with autistic children or youth.
  • A degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education, Communication Disorders Assistant, Occupational Therapy Disorders Assistant, Autism and Behavioural Science, or a related field.
  • Adaptable and flexible to changes in routine.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and neuro-affirming practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members.
