Job Summary

As a key member of the Providence Health Care team, the Ophthalmic Technician Specialist plays a vital role in performing complex diagnostic ophthalmic procedures and assessments. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews requisitions and verifies the appropriateness of visual field tests and photographs
  • Performs tests and procedures such as Goldmann field tests, automated perimetry, and tonometry
  • Analyzes and records relevant data for interpretation by physician
  • Receives patients, records relevant information, and explains procedures
  • Administers eye drops as required and monitors pupil dilation and patient status

Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized program in ophthalmic technology plus two (2) years' recent, related experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position

Vaccination Requirement

As per the current Public Health Orders, all employees working for Providence Health Care must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
