Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Material Handler/Yard Associate to join our team at Kent Building Supplies. As a Material Handler/Yard Associate, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials within our warehouse and lumber yard. This role requires strong physical abilities, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Load and unload customer vehicles, operate forklift and other material handling equipment
- Pick material for customer orders, assemble material and pack appropriately for pick up or shipment to customer
- Inform your direct supervisor of any inventory discrepancies and damaged/defective material that would impact customer service
- Maintain workplace cleanliness and safety by removing empty cartons, metal banding, pallets, and other debris
- Inform supervisor of any safety issues within the warehouse and lumber yard
- Help customers as needed

Requirements:

- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Outstanding customer service and strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop comprehensive product knowledge
- Ability to learn to safely operate a forklift and any other material handling equipment
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, fast paced and dynamic workplace
- 8-hour shifts – varying schedule
- Possess a high level of attention to details
- Ability to read invoices and product return paperwork
