Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in a dynamic and supportive environment. As a Nurse Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering client care and contributing to the development of our treatment programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver client care according to the British Columbia College of Nurses in an inter-professional shared care case management model
  • Report to the Nursing Supervisor and provide ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Formulate and implement client care plans
  • Safely implement physician's orders
  • Administer medications to clients
  • Maintain current progress records on clients according to legal and ethical standards
  • Orientate, facilitate, and reinforce client's involvement in addiction treatment
  • Decide and initiate on course of action in case of medical emergencies
  • Provide supportive counselling to clients, families, and/or significant others on typical recovery issues
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment on the unit conducive to the client learning productive patterns of living
  • Provide ongoing health teaching to clients in relation to common health problems and the clients maintaining a healthy lifestyle
  • Co-ordinate individual client appointments and referrals
  • Actively participate with team members in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of the client and his care
  • Perform other duties as outlined on shift duty lists and as assigned by the Manager of Nursing and Patient Care

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current registration and good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses
  • Mental health experience an asset
  • First aid and CPR required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Computer experience
