Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in a dynamic and supportive environment. As a Nurse Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering client care and contributing to the development of our treatment programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver client care according to the British Columbia College of Nurses in an inter-professional shared care case management model
- Report to the Nursing Supervisor and provide ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Formulate and implement client care plans
- Safely implement physician's orders
- Administer medications to clients
- Maintain current progress records on clients according to legal and ethical standards
- Orientate, facilitate, and reinforce client's involvement in addiction treatment
- Decide and initiate on course of action in case of medical emergencies
- Provide supportive counselling to clients, families, and/or significant others on typical recovery issues
- Maintain a therapeutic environment on the unit conducive to the client learning productive patterns of living
- Provide ongoing health teaching to clients in relation to common health problems and the clients maintaining a healthy lifestyle
- Co-ordinate individual client appointments and referrals
- Actively participate with team members in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of the client and his care
- Perform other duties as outlined on shift duty lists and as assigned by the Manager of Nursing and Patient Care
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current registration and good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses
- Mental health experience an asset
- First aid and CPR required
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Computer experience
