About the Position

ECC is seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist to join our team. This position is located in Ontario and requires a Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) security clearance.

This office and field position will work with an on-site team to help plan, select, coordinate, and implement scientific and environmental services to fully address the scope of work on environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects.

In this position, you will:

  • Under direct supervision, prepare environmental reports and plans
  • Analyze environmental/site/material data
  • Perform cross-disciplinary safety/quality, project controls, procurement, and contracts, and estimating duties as assigned
  • Report to the site and conduct field sampling, construction, engineering, and other miscellaneous field support services
  • Maintain budget and schedule for assigned tasks
  • Apply industry standards of practice for selected technology, adhering to regulatory codes, building codes, national/local standards, and company policies and SOPs
  • As directed, report to the field to perform and/or inspect or observe fieldwork, and review work of personnel, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure compliance with approved plans and acceptable tolerances
  • Complete related documentation (field reports, logs, meeting minutes, online submittal sites), in a timely and accurate manner
  • Implement Federal and Provincial Environmental Regulations
  • Communicate effectively by written and verbal means
  • Perform multiple concurrent tasks and meet timelines, as directed

Requirements

  • Apply basic knowledge of general scientific and engineering principles and analytical tools, as directed
  • Apply education of environmental processes, remediation technologies, design, and construction technologies as directed
  • Implement Federal and Provincial Environmental Regulations
  • Communicate effectively by written and verbal means
  • Perform multiple concurrent tasks and meet timelines, as directed
  • Work well independently and as a team
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows
  • Must be able to obtain Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship in the field of study preferred
  • Prior experience with Low-Level Radioactive Waste
  • Prior experience with large-scale environmental remediation projects preferred
