Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the management of the Ministry's financial systems, including policies, processes, and internal controls.
  • Ensure all financial activities are delivered in accordance with relevant policies and processes.
  • Oversee financial operations and compliance in accordance with Government of Alberta and ministry-specific policies and processes.
  • Manage a team responsible for daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting activities, including account/sub-ledger reconciliations and operational journal entries.

Required Qualifications:

  • A University graduation in a field related to the position assignment, supplemented by four years of related experience.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is required.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of related legislation, audit requirements, policy, and regulations.
  • Proven ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), and Government's financial policies and controls to financial activities.
