Nurse Practitioner

Halton Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Perioperative Services team. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and promoting clinical excellence in our perioperative services.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct daily rounds to assess and manage post-surgical patients and non-surgical acute pain consults.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists and other physicians to manage the daily workload of the acute pain service.
- Work with clinical nurse educators to provide orientation and ongoing educational support to surgical services clinical staff.
- Develop and implement a plan of care to reduce length of stay on the inpatient unit and prevent or reduce admission/readmission to hospital.
- Provide direct comprehensive care to patients, including obtaining and documenting a focused health history and performing physical examinations.
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality management programs.
- Participate in strategic planning for the delivery of medical care and assist with policy development and changes.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient education programs.
- Encourage and support researchable questions in clinical practice and participate in quality assurance projects.
- Provide consultation internally and externally for clinical practice issues.
- Current registration in the Extended Class, Nurse Practitioner with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
- Completion of a Master Degree in Nursing required.
- Recent experience with surgical patients or outpatient clinic preferred.
- Knowledge and clinical expertise in care of the acute post-surgical patients and pain management nursing.
- Eligibility for cross-appointment to an academic institution preferred.
- Membership in specialty related organizations required.
- Demonstrated core competencies as described in the Canadian Nurse Practitioner Core Competency Framework.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative inter-professional healthcare environment.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
