Job Title:

A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician is required to join our team at GFL Environmental in Surrey, BC.

About the Job:

This role involves ensuring our trucks and motorized equipment are up and running smoothly by performing maintenance or repairs on diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated trucks as well as associated heavy-duty equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated trucks
  • Using various power tools, hand instruments, and cutting-edge equipment
  • Completing daily reports, work orders, and ordering necessary parts
  • Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procuring parts
  • Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinating repair schedules
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
  • 1+ year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records
  • Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job duties
  • Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting items up to 100 lbs
  • Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, and climb
Working Conditions:
  • May include exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold, and fumes
Estimated Salary:

$60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on location and experience.
