Job Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre to support and enhance rehabilitation services. This role is responsible for the prevention, identification, assessment, treatment, education, and rehabilitation of communication and/or swallowing disorders in children and adults.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care and services within the scope of practice to inpatients, outpatients, and residents of long-term care.
  • Conduct video fluoroscopy studies in collaboration with the Diagnostic Imaging department.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care rounds and demonstrate effective communication within the team.
  • Travel to alternate hospital sites and long-term care facilities as needed.
  • Provide ongoing support for patients, families, and staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practice in all relevant areas and commit to continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Health Science Degree, Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.
  • Minimum of six months experience working directly with clients in a healthcare facility preferred.
  • Previous experience with assessment and management of swallowing disorders, including video fluoroscopic studies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, self-directed and self-starter.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment.
