Custodial Worker

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodial I to join our team at the Town of Blackfalds. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our facilities.

• Perform janitorial and minor maintenance activities in all Town facilities, including general cleaning, window washing, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, floor stripping, waxing, and buffing.
• Operate janitorial equipment and small hand tools, and participate in the Town Health and Safety Program and Procedures.
• Respond to and resolve complaints related to custodial services, and receive, process, and carry out work requests from the Parks and Recreation Foreman.
• Check maintenance of cleaning equipment to ensure safe and effective operation, and carry out tasks and projects within Occupational Health and Safety standards and Town policies and procedures.
• Maintain and support a positive and proactive Customer Service philosophy throughout the department.

• Minimum Grade 12 combined with a minimum of one (1) to two (2) years' of progressive experience, preferably in a municipal or public service environment.
• Knowledge of modern janitorial methods, material, equipment, and sanitation would be considered an asset.
• Standard First Aid with CPR "C" and AED certification, R.C.M.P. Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Intervention Record Check, Enhanced R.C.M.P Security Clearance, and Current and valid Class 5 driver's license (Air Brake endorsement preferred).

The position works 64 hours per 14-day pay period, and the starting hourly wage is $23.54 per hour. The work environment is dynamic, with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles, varying noise levels, and potential exposure to toxic chemicals and fumes.
