Job Overview

The Clinical Placement Coordinator will play a vital role in shaping the future of nursing education at Assiniboine College. Reporting to the Academic Chairperson, this individual will be responsible for organizing clinical experiences in healthcare facilities and community services throughout Manitoba for students enrolled in Practical Nursing (PN) and Comprehensive Health Care Aide (CHCA) Programs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Create an annual clinical schedule for both students and instructors, including completing all clinical placement requests through HSPNet.
  • Collaborate with other Manitoba nursing education programs to organize HSPNet clinical placement requests.
  • Communicate via email, phone, and/or in person with facility placement staff to problem-solve issues related to clinical placements.
  • Indigenize and decolonize Practical Nursing and nursing professional development courses by understanding Indigenous ways of being, knowing, and doing.
  • Incorporate acknowledgment of traditional territories of First Peoples using various mediums (in lectures, course outlines, and web-based course architecture).
  • Promote a quality culture in the School of Nursing and actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement processes related to clinical placements.

Requirements

  • Hold current registration and be in good standing with their Manitoba-based regulatory body.
  • Have appropriate nursing credential (BN, RN, RPN, LPN), a relevant degree, and current nursing experience.
  • Experience teaching in an adult environment is highly desirable.
  • Well-developed technical skills, particularly in Microsoft Word.
