Meet Our Team

We establish standards and patterns for EG architecture that ensure all systems across Expedia Group adhere to non-functional requirements.

Your Role Will Involve:

  1. Collaborating with technologists across EG to solve complex problems.
  2. Supporting and informing EG technologists through a community of practice.
  3. Building relationships with leaders across the organization to understand business problems and apply a technology lens to solve them.
  4. Designing a technology stack that aligns with business outcomes and our bottom line.
  5. Combining and sharing knowledge and skills in multiple functional areas to promote effectiveness in the department or business unit/function.
  6. Providing active mentorship and rising talent identification.
  7. Filling in for peer engineering directors as needed in setting technical next steps in coordination with engineering management.
  8. Developing a north star vision for the domain focused on.
  9. Interpreting internal and external business challenges and recommending integration of appropriate systems, applications, and technology to provide a fully functional solution to a business problem.
  10. Identifying areas for improvement and developing innovative enhancements using available software development tools following design requirements.
  11. Advocating for designing software that is scalable, resilient, and stable.
  12. Having deep knowledge of the entire system and ability to jump into code in any component to fire-fight and contribute.
  13. Making decisions on product technology direction based on deep subject matter knowledge.
  14. Expertise in professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle.
  15. Leading collaboration with key stakeholders and contributing subject matter expertise to develop unique solutions to complex issues.
  16. Enabling optimum organizational efficiency by taking a whole systems approach and thinking across boundaries to identify policies and processes that should be standardized or differ.
  17. Providing guidance when evaluating the impacts of a solution to ensure linkages between structure, people, process, and technology.
  18. Staying abreast of broad industry trends and developing methods for implementing them in our environment.
  19. Identifying when new trends may be too disruptive for reasonable implementation or spotting the ephemerality of new trends.
  20. Understanding that technology or automation doesn't solve every problem.
  21. Championing prioritized initiatives across the local organization and working with others across EG to investigate those initiatives.
  22. E nsuring documentation is not overwhelming or obsolete.

Experience and Qualifications:

  10. Masters software design best practices, shapes coding methodologies, and best practices, and evangelizes adoption of new platform technologies.
  11. Makes choices across teams to apply a number of technologies or languages.
  12. Presents new technology choice to technical and non-technical observers.
  13. Expert for multiple domains.
  14. Guide others to make well-defined technology choices.
  15. Creates systems that interact across a business unit.
  16. Understands systems being created across Expedia Group (EG) and how own business unit would integrate with them.
  17. Understands and designs highly complex systems.
  18. Establishes standards for operational excellence and code quality at a multi-project level.
  19. Drives principles and practices to guide others in design of software that is easily testable and observable.
  20. Understands cross-domain capabilities and how they integrate together.
  21. Bachelor's degree in a related field and 12+ years of experience; or Master's degree in a related field and 10+ years of experience.

The estimated total cash range for this position in Montreal is $175,500 per year, which reflects ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
