Job Title: Intermediate Structural Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and management of structural engineering projects, providing technical direction and peer review to junior team members, and maintaining a technical advisory role for clients throughout the project term.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare engineering service proposals for senior review;
  • Liaise with clients, government and/or regulatory bodies as well as contractors;
  • Lead the engineering design and manage the project team, schedule and budget on a variety of projects;
  • Provide technical direction and peer review for junior team members;
  • Design and stamp medium to complex designs;
  • Prepare specifications and drawings for building permit and tender;
  • Maintain a technical advisory role for clients throughout the project term;
  • Oversee and provide construction review services;
  • Prepare technical specifications and reports;
  • As the team continues to grow, there will be an opportunity to oversee the work of engineering interns and technologists and provide guidance and mentorship opportunities to more junior staff;
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a university degree in Structural Engineering;
  • At least 5 years of design experience on structural engineering projects;
  • Previous experience in wood frame building design will be an asset;
  • Previous experience in luxury home and townhome design will be an asset;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia and in good standing;
  • Familiar with all applicable building codes and design standards;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Proficient with AutoCAD and Revit;
  • Working knowledge of structural design software (SFRAME, ETABS, SAP, Woodworks, etc.);
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, time management and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
