Family Practitioner Opportunity at Island Sexual Health

Island Sexual Health is a dynamic non-profit community health centre seeking a family practitioner to join our multidisciplinary care team. We provide trauma-informed low-barrier primary care, serving a diverse patient population, including gender-diverse individuals, sex workers, and those living with HIV/AIDS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive primary care services, including routine check-ups, health assessments, and disease management.
  • Work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team, including nurses, social workers, and support staff, to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Develop and maintain a patient panel, prioritizing those with complex needs and providing individualized care.
  • Participate in training and education on providing gender-affirming care and cultural competency for Indigenous clients.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and best practices, ensuring a culturally safe workplace.
Requirements:
  • Current registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C.
  • Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Medical indemnity coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
  • Competent to practice the full scope of family medicine/primary care, excluding maternity care.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including those with mental health and substance use challenges, and those experiencing trauma.
