Job Summary

The Pediatric Surgical Ambulatory Clinics at McMaster Children's Hospital Site of Hamilton Health Sciences provide family-centered care to children aged 0-17. Our clinics offer a range of services, including Pediatric General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, and Urology.

Job Responsibilities

As a member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Clinical Healthcare Assistant will provide clinical support to patients in collaboration with other healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring efficient patient flow and information flow from the team to the Business Clerk
  • Maintaining readiness of clinic rooms between patients
  • Preparing clinic charts
  • Stocking clinic rooms with clean supplies and patient education materials
  • Supporting physicians and clinical teams within the scope of HCA duties

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide certificate
  • Previous hospital/clinic experience
  • Computer familiarity or willingness to learn computer skills
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
  • Initiative and judgment appropriate for the position
  • Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
  • Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
  • Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend, push, and pull using good body mechanics
