Job Description


The Senior Systems Administrator plays a pivotal role in supervising and operating on-premise and cloud technologies, network security, and related infrastructure. This individual collaborates closely with the Information Technology infrastructure team to ensure critical systems are functioning securely.



Responsibilities



  • Collaborate with the IT infrastructure team to maintain secure and efficient operation of on-premise and cloud technologies.
  • Maintain a high level of enthusiasm and interest in systems for which you are responsible, striving to learn and grow through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Work as a key resource on large-scale system projects, leveraging cutting-edge cloud technologies to drive success.
  • Research and recommend improvements to automate daily tasks, identifying approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Be available for after-hours on-call support in rotation.
  • Maintain a good understanding of current and emerging technologies, how enterprises employ them to drive success.


Requirements



  • Candidates must reside in Canada and be authorized to work in Canada.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in IT systems support and administration in a corporate environment, with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with incident management tools.
  • Experience with VMWare virtual desktop infrastructure and server clustering.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft SQL, BMC Control-M, Splunk running on Ubuntu OS, and working in a Windows Server environment.
  • Experience in the administration and support of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy, Microsoft Azure Active Directory and SSO.
  • Experience with Fortinet security products, including firewalls and sandboxing.
  • Experience with Cisco and Hp/Aruba networking, SAN storage solutions, and on-premise telecom solutions.
  • Exposure or Experience with Hyland Onbase or other enterprise document management systems.
  • Experience working in a highly secure environment with utmost regard for security and privacy, preferably in the finance or insurance industry.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and inquisitive skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor team members.
  • Proven ability in interpreting and developing complex network diagrams.
  • General Insurance Essentials (GIE) or equivalent insurance industry courses required.
  • Agile training and certification, ITIL training and certification, Lean training and certification preferred.
