Senior Engineering Project Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineering Manager to join our team at AtkinsRéalis, a leading nuclear engineering group in Canada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing individuals and teams executing commercial and internal work packages and projects, in a single discipline or set of closely related disciplines.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in engineering, with a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in a discipline and field of application relevant to the work being managed, including experience leading technical teams. They will also have demonstrated ability to manage complex and parallel technical projects, as well as business acumen with a strong commercial orientation.
Key Responsibilities- Identify gaps in the size or technical capabilities of the team relative to forecast requirements and develop a plan to close those gaps through a combination of hiring, releasing and developing staff.
- Hire and release staff, secondees and contractors, as required.
- Organize, develop and/or deliver project-specific training courses.
- Ensure all project training and qualifications records are up-to-date, and required training and qualifications are completed/updated on time.
- Mentor and/or organize mentoring of staff to maintain and improve staff performance and department technical capabilities.
- Help staff set SMART objectives aligned with project demands.
- Provide clear expectations and performance measures, meaningful feedback, recognize and reward achievements.
- Track, analyze and develop/executes plans to improve project Key Performance Indicators and objectives for their teams.
- Accountable for performance review processes and provides feedback on the performance of staff reporting to this role.
- Accountable for hire/fire processes for staff reporting to this role.
- Responsible for human resource issues and effectively manage and resolve employee issues.
- Approves technical documents prepared by staff reporting to them.
- Plans and executes work consistent with quality, cost and schedule requirements.
- Removes barriers that would impact deliverables to meet project requirements and priorities, working with the assigned staff to find solutions and optimizations.
- Provides technical advice to staff and management.
- University degree in an applicable field of engineering or science.
- Demonstrated business acumen with a strong commercial orientation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex and parallel technical projects.
- 8 years of progressive experience in a discipline and field of application relevant to the work being managed, including experience leading technical teams.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and member in good standing or eligible to obtain such registration within 6 months of hiring;
- 8 years of nuclear technology experience including experience leading engineering teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 2 security clearance.
