Pharmacy Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Loblaw Companies Limited. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and process customer prescriptions, ensuring all necessary information is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain patient and drug information files, ensuring confidentiality and security.
  • Check and verify pharmaceutical products prepared by other technicians or unregulated personnel.
  • Prepare prescription labels, affixing labels to prescription containers, and reconcile accounts and collect outstanding monies from patients.
  • Retrieve, count, pour, weigh, measure, mix, and reconstitute medications as needed.
  • Price prescriptions, prepare receipts, invoices, letters, and memos, and maintain general filing.
  • Stock medications and related supplies, rotate, and monitor stock levels.
  • Maintain a perpetual inventory system through our Merchandise Management System.
  • Ensure customer privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Requirements:
  • Completed provincial pharmacy technician certification or completed Pharmacy Technician course and The Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada Qualifying exam.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing in the Province of Ontario.
  • High level of professionalism, ability to work independently, and knowledge of professional discipline, technical specialties, and related processes.
  • Leadership and organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, and ability to handle cash accurately.
  • Experience with Healthwatch an asset.
