Job Summary

The Switchboard Operator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare facilities. As the first point of contact for patients, families, and staff, you will be responsible for answering and directing calls, responding to emergencies, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a multiline switchboard console to answer and direct calls, respond to emergencies, and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and staff, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Respond to hospital alarms and carry out established emergency procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, including switchboard directory and on-call scheduling databases.
  • Perform routine updates to switchboard and paging systems.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 and one year's recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to keyboard at 40 wpm.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
