Role Overview:

The Métis Nation of Ontario is seeking a skilled Community Wellness Program Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Community Wellbeing department, you will be responsible for overseeing the full life cycle of our Community Wellness Program, from hiring to orientation, coaching, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a role model for expected behaviour and culture, and explain/ screen for behaviour and culture when hiring new employees.
  • Provide training on work culture, work expectations, job duties, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to support effective job performance and conduct constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Organize, plan, and supervise day-to-day work for assigned employees.
  • Resolve conflicts that arise among employees.
  • Research and prepare detailed and accurate reports, briefing notes, and presentations.
  • Attend meetings with senior management, funders, elected officials, and government, and present where required.
  • Collaborate with employees to identify ways to improve program or branch efficiency and effectiveness, and implement viable ideas.

Requirements:

  • A post-secondary degree in social services or a related field.
  • A strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture.
  • A high degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment.
  • Superior organization skills and time/priority-management managing others.
  • Advanced communications skills, both written and verbal, including advanced report writing capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, lead, and work effectively with others in a supervisory capacity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant knowledge of Métis and/or Indigenous policy issues.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Understanding of the MNO's governance structure and the Canada-Métis Nation Accord.

Assets:

  • Bilingualism.
  • Completion of a supervisory or leadership course or certificate.
