SUMMARY:

The Quality Control Specialist will assist in maintaining the Unit's food safety policies, procedures, and initiatives. This individual collaborates with departments to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and promote a culture of food safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and review quality documentation and records within a timely manner.
  • Track the progress of quality metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Perform daily spot checks in production areas to ensure compliance with client specifications.
  • Perform visual inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure compliance to regulations.
  • Perform daily unit inspections and GEMBA walks of the facility.
  • Monitor the cleaning and sanitation program.
  • Facilitate reviews, discuss inspection results with those responsible, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support and manage the food safety program.
  • Provide training to employees on the food safety rules and regulations.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in external/internal audits.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.

Perfil

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in food safety or in a related field.
  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality control/quality assurance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HACCP.
  • Strong ability in excel, word, and PowerPoint.
  • Resilient self-starter, who can act independently and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in food safety or in a related field.
  • Degree in a related field preferred but not required.

This is a physically active position that will require the individual to be out at the airport, in the office, on the dock, and in other areas as necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, talk and/or listen.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel.

The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The temperature of the environment may fluctuate drastically from very cold to very warm temperatures.

The noise level may range from moderate to very loud.
