Job Summary

Abalone Construction is seeking a skilled Finish Dozer Operator to join our team. As a key member of our field operations, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our dozers in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain dozers to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Perform minor maintenance and inspections to prevent equipment downtime
  • Regulate height and angle of the blade to achieve precise results
  • Drive dozers in passes over surfaces to raise or lower terrain as specified by the superintendent
  • Follow marks on grade stakes or hand signals to ensure accurate placement
  • Level soil, rock, and debris to meet project requirements
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of roadway plans, drawings, and grades
  • Collaborate with others to complete tasks and achieve project goals

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 seasons of experience with sloping and leveling (finish work)
  • 5 seasons of experience as a finish dozer operator
  • Experience operating on commercial and industrial projects is an asset
  • Gradesman experience is considered an asset
  • Valid CSTS-09, WHMIS 2015, Ground Disturbance, and CSA-approved 6" steel toe work boots
  • Hard working, positive attitude, and willingness to learn
  • Desire to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Personal vehicle and valid driver's license required

Working Conditions

Operators will work outside in all weather conditions, spending long periods sitting in their vehicle or walking/standing on the job site. They must be willing to commit to 50+ hours per week at various project locations, including working most Saturdays. Typical shifts are 7:00am - 5:30pm.
